Strange they told you it does not work:

http://www.sane-project.org/sane-mfgs.html#Z-SAMSUNG - here it is listed as 'good'. I suggest you click on that Xerox link in the end column that might assist.

Hi,

go to this page and download the Linux driver package "V3.00.65":

http://www.samsung.com/uk/support/model ... nload=true

It is a "Tar" package, once it is downloaded follow the guide, the first answer in the thread!:

I hope it makes sense to you!.

Thank you for your help.It is appreciated.
This is the only command accepted by the Terminal: sudo ./install.s***.It ask for my password but I cannot wright it in.I don't know if is the keyboard or the Terminal's fault. When I am on line,I do receive several request from Unlock Login Keyring for my password after I already have satisfied the request positively.I do click CANCEL at it stops.I am afraid to have another problem.
What I should do in this occasion? 1)Enter the command one by one and click enter, or, I can click copy and past all this commands at once?:
Open one Terminal and enter the following commands:

cd PSU_1.10.tar.gz (the uncompressed folder)

cd cdroot && cd Linux && cd psu

sudo ./install.sh

Then it'll ask the root password, enter it.

The Sane project is not working. It is for the wrong Printer.....CLP.....Mine is CLX.
Thank you

Hi,

okay; I found the following for an install on Ubuntu based systems:

Open a terminal and copy and paste the following command:

Code:
sudo bash -c 'echo "deb http://www.bchemnet.com/suldr/ debian extra" >> /etc/apt/sources.list'

Press enter/return and enter your password, your password will not show up in the terminal window!!.

Now you need to download the "Key" with this command:

Code:
sudo wget -O - http://www.bchemnet.com/suldr/suldr.gpg | sudo apt-key add -

Now open Synaptic package manager and click on "Reload" to update your package lists, click in the "Search" box and type "suld" (Samsung Unified Linux Driver) and a list of packages will appear, I think you need to start with the package "suld-driver-4.01.17", there will be other packages for you to install like scanner gui; you can install them after testing the printer using System Settings > Hardware >Printers. Install any other packages it suggests!.

Let us know how you get on.

WARNING, THE ABOVE ADDS A 3RD PARTY PPA TO YOUR PACKAGE LISTS, USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!.

I am very sorry.I have given a try to this Operative system but I believe that I cannot work with it.
This, launching the scanner, should be a very easy problem to solve.I can follow directions, but there is not a definite answer.
When I input the command into the Terminal I have been asked for my Password.I cannot write in the password....the keyboard is not working or the Terminal stops the Keyboard. When I click the keys for my password not-thing happens. It is the OS corrupted?I am only using the PC as a typewriter,go on the web,Email and using a multifunction printer for print, scan and fax.I can print,I can Fax but I cannot scan. There is any command to check if the software required is installed?Samsung has provided a Driver for Linux which has been installed but, with windows we need a software for the scanner.Do we need a software for Linux?
In order for me to follow your latest direction....I must be able to write the password in to the Terminal.
Sorry again
Thanks for your help

Hi,

I specifically wrote this sentence for your benefit:

"Press enter/return and enter your password, your password will not show up in the terminal window!!. "

Just type your password even though you cannot see it, it is being entered as you type, press return/enter once you have completed typing your password.

The sudo command does not allow me to write in the password.Very strange.I have installed Ubuntu software center.I did remove Firefox from the desktop, but was completely wiped out from the Ubuntu software center. While I was trying to fix this problem,I was able to install the Samsung CLX3175FW printer just as per your instruction but working with Firefox. Now I have on the desktop 1 icon for Firefox and 1 icon for Samsung printer. When I click this Icons, instead of launching the software's,they open the files in Home-download.I must be doing something wrong but I cannot figure it out. There is any literature about Zorin, with Linux that I can read ?
Thank you

Hi, try right-clicking on the icons and see if 'allow to run as executable/program' is check-marked - also check any command properties - if blank then they will not launch anything - do you know where the programs are actually installed to? Open 'Computer' then on the left pane search for 'File System' - expand that then go to 'usr/share/applications' see if you can launch the apps from there.

Hi,

at least your printer is installed, check out the post install guide for more info about Zorin in general and adding icons to the desktop:

http://www.zoringroup.com/forum/viewtop ... f=5&t=2054

Did you setup the printer via System Settings > Hardware > Printers > Add Printer?.

When you say you cannot scan from the printer, do you mean pressing the buttons directly on the scanner panel of the all-in-one printer?

When you put a password in the terminal it does not show asterisks or blobs like log-in so you have to be extremely careful to include upper case characters if you do have them in your login password - if nothing happens then it will be a wrong password! ;)

Hi,

the commands do work, I installed the PPA on my PC and I don't even have a Samsung printer, you are typing in the wrong PW or something, make sure "Caps Lock" is not on when you type!.
