Hi,

if you want multimedia playback (among other things) please be sure to activate the "Medibuntu Repo".

Copy and paste the following 2 commands in a terminal:

sudo wget --output-document=/etc/apt/sources.list.d/medibuntu.list http://www.medibuntu.org/sources.list.d/$(lsb_release -cs).list && sudo apt-get --quiet update && sudo apt-get --yes --quiet --allow-unauthenticated install medibuntu-keyring && sudo apt-get --quiet update

Followed by:

sudo apt-get --yes install app-install-data-medibuntu apport-hooks-medibuntu

After you have finished installing the above 2 commands, update your system so you can install any packages you wish with the following command!!.

sudo apt-get update

then:

sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

Once enabled; you can download and install media codecs and things like Java and other non-free software.

One important package is "non-free-codecs" which you should install.
